c4 into corty woes

hey, hoping some of you can maybe shed some light...

A mate and i have gone halves and bought an old corty unlic for a burnout car, its already got a slightly lumpy pre-xflow six locked dif twin thermos but we bought it with a stuffed gearbox. I found a box in the paper and bought it, its a C4. It bolted straight up bar a bit of fiddling around with shifter, but it doesnt click into any gears at all, even the old stuffed box still had reverse. and yes its got fluid.

Theres a vac line coming from it which someone told me may hve something to do with it so my question is does the vac line ahve anything to do with the box working, i assumed it was just kickdown. damn autos shit me.

yes, connect the vac line. If that doesnt work and the linkages are working? The auto is stuffed.

ok heres an update for yas

filled her up chockas with fluid, no dipstick atm so went to an auto shop, they said 8-9litres, so i filled her up, started her up, still nothing.

Then what i tried is disconnecting one of the factory cooler lines that runs up to the radiator, then fired her up and tried selecting gears, not a single drop out of the line. So shes not pumping fluid at all, does this mean anything? or will it only pump fluid when actually engaged in a gear?

I'm starting to think its proly rooted, but i wanna make absolutely sure.

P.S. i still havnt hooked up the vac hose, thats next on my list

even without the pump connected you should see oil. time for reco or replacement.
