I drive an MK V with a 468 engine. While I understand the weight of the vehicle prevents the car's performance from being particularly spritely, a mechanic is telling me I could make changes to the transmission that would speed up the gear changes and increase the top end. He advises me that the standard (C6) tranny has three planetaries, and that it's a fairly simply job to change this to five planetaries. I know nothing about this - is the terminology correct? Is the job even possible? If I paid to have it done, would I get noticable results? Any answers or other comments will be very useful to me; thanks in advance for your time and help.
