Clutch pedal spring...

Im doing a manual conversion (EA), and the pedal box i got from the wreckers didnt have a spring.. im pretty sure it should have a spring right? anyway, i got a spring from ford today, an EB one, because the EA one is discontinued, and he said there shouldnt be much difference...

Im guessing the spring should force the pedal towards the floor to keep the clutch cable taunt and so the other end doesnt come off the the thing connected to the clutch fork in the box.... is this right?

Mostly, i want to know where the proper points are for connecting this spring... i can only really see 2 possible points on the pedal, #1 is the hole which has the nylon washer thing and then connect the other end to some point closer the the firewall...(where exactly?) OR #2 is the point where the clutch cable connects (around the round bar) and then connecting to somepoint forward from that (ive found somewhere on the metal bracket which seems to work well, just not sure of the tension, how tight should it really be?)

Cheers.

Re: Clutch pedal spring...

The Ford workshop manual shops it going hrorizontally from the hole half way up the pedal lever to a tang on the firewall.

Re: Clutch pedal spring...

Never mind, ive managed to find it, the two slits/protruding bit from the firewall, and the nylon bush in the pedal.
