Clutch Sticking or sumthin??

ive got a problem with my XE
when i put my foot down the car just revs like ive got my foot on the clutch a little bit.
its really annoying when i got to put my foot down or go up hills.
would this be the clutch or something else?

my dad recently made the fuel mixture richer, could this be anything??

Re: Clutch Sticking or sumthin??

So you do have a manual, then get the clutch adjusted, maybe the flywheel needs machining, if you have an auto sounds like the bands are slipping, get them adjusted, or you may need a gearbox rebuild.

I did put something here, but it vanshied, I think

Re: Clutch Sticking or sumthin??

definately sounds like the clutch.
You might want to check to see if the clutch is full engaging first thou, i had a similar prob in an EB, where the clutch cable got really sticky, and did not fully release the clutch. But if its not that, its the clutch. :-(

try 5th gear up a hill at any speed full throttle..if it revs up without picking up speed in top gear but doesnt do the same in 1st probably worn clutch...clutches mainly slip in higher gears under load..and i don't think a ea box would fit a xe..but the xe's did have the option of a 5 speed im pretty sure...but i think its your clutch not your g/box that needs fixing

with the correct bellhousing, crossmember, etc, yes.

If you're not driving a manual you're really just steering.

Re: Clutch Sticking or sumthin??

I know of an EA speedway car with an XF engine and 4-speed manual in it. Had to use the XF crossmember. I imagine it would be opposite for your XE, use an EA crossmember. Not sure on bellhousing differences.

Re: Clutch Sticking or sumthin??

Pete,

Your clutch is shagged to put it bluntly.

obviously check your mechanism first.

Is it cable or hydraulic? if it's a v8 it should be hyd.
