Clutch woes

K guys...need your help...

My (non manual driving) cousin drove my car & now the cluch cable seems to be stuffed.

I have tried adjusting it but no matter where I adjust it to i still cant get reverse unless the car is turned off......It doesnt matter if the release is high or low....she still isnt right...

Is she totally stuffed, could it be more than just the cable, or am I just not holding my mouth right ???????????

Any help would be great

Thanks

if ypu tried cable adjustment, sounds like the clutch itself. Does it slip??

xf_wagon_gal > Firstly, if it is the cable it is not your cousin's fault. When it stretches so far (old age) it just won't release the clutch and that's that - or the clutch is worn out and that's still that!
Secondly, when you adjusted the cable I'm assuming you know how to do this and didn't adjust it the wrong way - don't laugh you guys I've seen mechanics do it!
Thirdly, you have to do what Jase has already suggested and test the clutch for slipping - do you know how to do this? If the clutch slips after correctly adjusting the cable then the clutch is kaktus - if it makes you feel any better you can blame your cousin for this.
And lastly (but as they say not leastly), if it is a problem with how you're holding your mouth ....... mmmmmmm

Don't worry, be happy.

Last week I had a new cable fitted and adjusted by a mechanical shop charging $60 an hour and the cost of the bill was $136 including parts & gst.

$136
2 tanks of juice.
a cheap suit.
less than 15kmph over the speed limit.
a microchip in your dog.
2.5 hours in a restaurant and a movie.
