Further to my last post about my clutch woes, how much should I exect to pay for a kit......

I know this may seem strange but our local mechanic is a rip off mechanic ars*hol* and I refuse to ask him for values.

I have someone to put it in for me soooooo how much should I be spending??????????

For those who dont know shes a 85 xf 's' pac 4 speed

the last clutch that i put in a xf was around the $140mark i think, from bursons

Last time I needed a clutch replaced in an XD Wagon (250 cu.in, Borg-Warner 503 4-speed), I didnt know how to do it, so I paid a mechanic to do it. $300 all up, including getting the flywheel machined...

Borg-Warner clutches dont last that long if you think about it, I was lucky to get 100,000km out of that one.. doesnt like the torque the sixes make, lol

Check/ask around on the clutch and plate, there are some "good" cheap units out there.Ask a specific clutch or brake place they have all the aftermarket assemblies..At reasonable prices..hth...

yes you wouldn't want to spend any more than $300 all up
