How hard would it be to change a column shift 3sp auto to floor? Its a BW35 in an XD, and I can get my hands on a centre console, t-bar, and anything else I need. Then is it just a case of cutting a hole and bolting everything up? Or I could just keep the column shift and put a few little subs in the console!!

Its pretty easy job to do it yourself, if your getting the consul etc out of another car take some some pics or record it on a camera so that you know exactlly how it all looks, measure the hole in the floor and away you go, you can cut the hole out with a metal blade in a jigsaw,

does it all bolt up? I got this weird bracket between the two seats, I thought bench seats were moveable, so it can't be for that, right? I didn't realise you could have a console and a column shift together. Or am I missing something?

No reason why you can’t leave the column shift in place, just change the bench seat to buckets and install a console. You’ll even have more room where the shifter usually lives and just maybe people might mistake the car for a Bentley because they have the same arrangement, except with leather and walnut veneer not plastic!

I think it'll also technically need a engineer's cert, as the car won't be a six seater anymore.

If that's the case I think I'll just keep the column shift & get some buckets. Nice and different, or is everyone doing it to be different these days?

Ease conversion. All just bolts in. From memory, that bracket is for screwing the console onto. The XD should also have a pressing mark in the floor showing you where to cut for the T-bar. You can remove all the column shift bits (I left the actual shift tube in mine) and use blank covers where the column shifter used to be.

And don't forget to wire in the T-bar light!
