Conversion question - tailshaft

The manual conversion for the NA Fairlane is going ahead in a couple of weeks. Ive lined up all the parts that I need, however, im not sure about the tailshaft. Its currently a 3 speed auto. What I need to know is, will the current tail shaft be the right length, or do I need one from a 4 speed. Can anyone help? Also, whats a good price for a PBR clutch kit? Ive been quoted $160 new, is this a good price?
