hey, when i turn corners slowly i can hear the steering column (if that's the correct term) creaking and it feels pretty rough. are there bushes in there that can be replaced?

oh, and it's an ef.

Reckon it will be the lower column bearing - pretty sure the column is similar to EA-ED. Bearing is not replaceable. EA-ED column is about $250 trade from Ford (may be a bit different for EL) or could try a wrecker.

I seem to have the same problem on my Falcon BA Futura. I went down for my service and mentioned it to them. They said that it was a common problem. Not believing that, I called Ford and they called back the dealer and now the dealer called me back to come in for another service. Service is this coming wednesday, so lets see what happens after that. I really hate the noise though, feels like I am hurting the car each time I am on a slow turn.

Have you spoke to ford or any of your regular service dealers about this problem? Any suggestions?

The problem on a BA is nothing to worry about. It's a TSB and the dealer has the TSB with the appropriate fix. As for the EF making that noise, well the description is like the same description of the BA problem, although I have not heard any E-Series having a burr causing a creak.
