Hi all,
Lately, ive been trying out the "boy racer" outfit that i got with my P plates, and have discovered that there is a massive amount of time between when i select 2nd (manually) and when the auto acutally changes. Why?

And what can i do to get these times down? Its currently taking about 1 - 1.5 seconds! depending on how far down the gas pedal is (usually flat to the floor). Ive got no idea what type of tranny is in it either... i assume c4?

The car is a 11/1970 XY wagon, with a 250 log motor. White if that makes any difference

Ummm ok, when you move the lever up to second that just 'unlocks' second gear, making it available for the transmission to move up to when it feels like it. the lower? your manifold vacuum is, ie, the harder you're pressing down on the acclerator the higher the rpm the transmission will change up at. I think you'll find that if you move the lever up and then back off the accelerator the transmission will shift up faster, other than that all i can reccomend is that you let the auto do its work. I suppose you could adjust the transmission to shift at lower revs, i know they can be modified for quicker and firmer shifts and you can manualise it entirely with a shift kit or something cant ya?
