hello

I need to decide between detroit locker or good LSD, car will be used for hard driving and drags,burnouts mostly, but needs to be legal,ie no full spool.

What are detroit lockers like on the street, how much power will they take??

any ideas???

Expect to pay at least $700 more to get the locker in there over an LSD.

LSD will eventually fail doing burnouts where a locker should handle the punishment a little better. Really burnouts really need a spool.

Lockers are interesting on the street, especially turning corners in the wet. Because of the way they disengage one wheel completely... then with a little bit of a clunk the axles are locked solid again... If that happens to be as your accellerating out of a corner in the wet then your going to be stepping it out a lot untill you get used to it!

Despite what a lot of unknowledgable diff shops will tell you, 28 spline detroit lockers do exist... so you only have to upgrade your axles to 31 spline if you want.

Whilst we're on the topic.........

I have a 31 spline detroit locker ready to fit, but I didn't want the cost of buying new 31 spline axles for $850 (Moser) just yet. It's an XB 9 inch............do you know if Ford made stock 31 spline axles I can get from a wreckers?
