DIff between BA XR8 auto & EL auto ?
Does anyone know what sort of internal differences there is between the EL series auto, and the ones used in the BA XR8's or GT's ?
I realise that the BA has a different shifter arrangement, but i was wondering about the internals of the box. If Ford is able to offer a warranty on a factory 290 kW automatic, there must have been a few changes they made compared to the (now seemingly) little 170 kW the EL originally put out. I assume that these gearboxes are essentailly the same externally, so if i ever have to get the gearbox in mine re-built, i could hopefully get it done with this higher power capacity stuff inside.
