i was told that nissan pintara diff gears will go into my diff last week, a guy had put them in his vp commo, only cost $65 for a 4.10 ratio! anyways he said they use the same 25 spline axles and centre, so the gears would just swap over. has anyone done this before here?

just came back from wreckers now, got some info..
nissan pintara 4cyl auto has 4.11:1 gear set
nissan skyline 6cyl auto has 3.89:1 gear set

vl commo 6cyl auto has 3.45:1 gear set

i think a pintara manual has a 3.7:1, but couldnt check cos the diff was gone allready.

cost for a centre in any of these ratio's $52

would any of these pintara/skyline diffs have a lsd?

yes you can get skyline LSD centres, i think that most of the manual ones were 3.77, and a few were 3.89. dont know about pintara ones though.

i have a 3.89:1 CWP set from a skyline, still looking for a 38 spline LSD centre so i can get my new diff built - anyone know where i can get one REAL SOON NOW?!?!?!? IM DESPERATE!!! right now there is a 2.77:1 open centre in the car and its bloody embarrassing...

you mean 28 spline.

you see these all the time in trading post, and even the ff market place!

they are not dear from a diff place either.

hey Rollin what model Skyline did your centre come from? 78 series diff is 28 spline right? would the diff gears be interchangeable between centres? I have a 2.77 4 pinion lsd and I want to change to a lower ratio.

Yes you can change the ratio.

I had 3.45 4-pinion LSD and put R31 Skyline gears in to make it 3.91.

TOOOO Wrong! You cannot change from 2.77 to lower gears without changing the LSD as well, as the offset on the hemisphere is different.

Thought you can if machined.

Changed mine to lower gears.

2.77 is different. But I was pretty sure 78 series were the same???

One hemisphere runs the 2.77 and the mythical 2.54 super ultra poverty pack XD gears. The other hemisphere runs 2.92 to 4.11. All gears supersede to later, 78 series will not go into 75 series. Series is unrelated to hemi offset. To my knowledge 2.77 are not available in 78 series anyway.

I knew my 3.45 gears wouldn't fit on a 2.77 centre but 2.77 gears would fit on 3.45 centre.

3.45 gears will fit on a 2.77 centre if machined i'm told.

XD are 75 series i thought.

XE and later (and VL and Nissan,etc for that matter) are 78 series.

I'm confused :(
