diff rebuilds - Ford Forums - Mustang Forum, Ford Trucks, Ford Focus and Ford Cars

Just wondered if any of you guys knew if there is a rebuild/bearing kit for the ED v8 lsd diff?

Apparently the bearings are going/rooted in mine and thats what the noises are.

Are these diffs hard to work on? Any special tools? Should i let the pro's do it and not do it myself?

G'day Hinchi, although I prefer to tackle my own work on cars I think unless you have suitable tools such as the bearing pullers required and know how to judge tooth contact patterns on the crown wheel and pinion I would take it to a recommended professional as diffs are intolerant of uninformed fiddling. I know of one specialist here in Melbourne who has letters of appreciation on his wall from a Mr P Brock but that is a bit of a hike for you,

Hmm ok then thanks for the replies. I spose i will have to get the pros to do it. Just didnt feel like paying out $500+ on it but these things happen...

When i had the lsd rebuilt in my EB fairmont (L.S.D.) they said it took a lot of time to set up the lash in the diff. The Borg Warners are prone to die very quick is the lash is not perfect, best to get the pros to do it.
