Diff seal leak

After a service they reported a diff seal is leaking. So I had a look and its the seal just after the universal joint meets with the diff (not sure what its propper name is). Its not a drip its a small oil smear on the diff. Big job? Is it easy to do at home?
Thanks

Re: Diff seal leak

Sounds like the pinion seal. It would probably be best to get it professionaly done. If you do do it yourself make sure you mark the pinion nut and do it up how it was because the nut puts preload on the pinion bearings. Also get a new collapsible spacer. It should cost around $70 to get done by a diff place. I would go to a diff place as it would be very hard to do without a hoist.
