i have an ef v8 falcon and have been offered a gearbox of an ef 6cyl, i know the bellhosing is different and the 6 is cable but i dont no if the v8 is cable or hydro, are the tail shaft and cross members the same cause its got box cross member centre consol and tailshaft a might even have pedal box please help.

Are you converting from auto or is it a replacement box? It wouldnt be a good move using a 6 cylindr box on a V8.

No, the 6 cylinder T5 is not suitable due to the input shaft lengh. You need to get a T5 for a 5 litre !

As honer said, the input shaft length is wrong as is. The I6 box also has slightly different ratios to an 8's box...
From what I've heard, you need to be very careful getting boxes from wreckers etc second hand. A lot of the time a 6 box will be sold as an 8 after the input shaft has been altered, and just about the only way to tell is to open up the box.
Plus I imagine there is very little in the way of warranty ( I know some ppl here have been burnt buying second hand t5's that only survived 6 months ). Reco's are expensive as well . . . :/
