Difference In Top Loader

I WAS WONDERING IF ANY ONE CAN TELL ME IF THERE WAS A DIFFERENCE IN TOP LOADERS THAT CAME OUT IN PHASE3 GTHO AND NORMAL GT's.

Gidday from W.A.! From my alcohol abused memory, I can recall the output shaft was 31 spline, the extension housing was a different length (shorter?) & possibly made of a higher strength material. I believe that the close ratio box was more suited to circuit racing & the wide ratio was more suited to drag racing. I know that when fitting the phase 3 box to a standard G.T. the drive shaft had to changed as well.(been there, done that.) Hope this helps.EL GT4me.

XYGTHO 31 spline g/box has looooooooooonger extension housing & shorter 3 1/2" tailshaft
std toploader had 3" tailshaft

They had different gear ratios. I didn't know about the extention housing though.

Phase 3 had bullnose imput shaft as well i think

The gear ratios depened on the diff ratio. 3.25:1 had wide ratio (2.78:1 first). 3.5:1 and 3.9:1 had the close ratio (2.32:1 first). All were long extension housing.

its just that i purchased a top loader of a friend for $400 and it needed second gear replased i got that done and when they orderd the geer i was told that its out of the bathurst style Ho's i was also told the box had 31 spline, close ratio gears and its longer then a standard top loader that i have. I was just after some confermation thats why i asked the question.
