I've got a 3.45:1 on my EA; best thing about in an EL though is that usually you can get them off wrecked EL XR6/8's and these are LSD (better handling). For costs check your local wreckers but you'd be looking a fortune for brand new... also ring around any local or semi-local differential places.

btw my EA is only CFI and can hold with MPI ED's up to about 60km seeing as I usually get a better start; thanks to the diff

its not really going to matter unless someone wants to loose their licence badly and even then the 3.45 will still easily suffice for that purpose

lol true true ... i more menat in that fact you need a tad more rpm to drive at teh same speed, eg driving high way instead of sitting at 1800 in 4th gear u might sit at 2k in 4th gear ...
I've got a 3.45 in my Fairmont instead of a 3.08- with manual and auto it works very well- I've had both in it. Terrific for cruising as the standard ratio is too high and the engine is out of the torque band for going up hills- the lower diff is great for overtaking and going up hills- it will power up steep freeway inclines with the cruise on without needing to change down.
