I'm currently in the middle of a project car and trying to decide whether to keep the un-original tranny that was in the car. The casting number is C5MP 7006A. I read in a previous post that this transmission was an FMX, but also the description in my swamp meet guide book sounds like an C5. What do I have? Any help I would greatly appreciate.

An fmx has a cast iron main body and an alloy bellhousing..It has 14 pan bolts where a c5 has only 11.

Try lifting it. If it's a FMX your undies will turn out brown.
