i don't really know how to describe this but i'll give it a go. i have an XF with 4.1 EFI, an EL XR disc to disc rear axle/diff and a T5. when i'm driving along at say 80km/h in 4th and put my foot down, the shifter appears to "roll" to the drivers side of the car and it seems that the back of the car pulls a little to the left. now i thought this might be a broken mount causing the gearbox movement but i only just put nolathane engine and trans mounts in about 3 weeks ago and have since checked them and they are fine. buggered if i can work it out - does this all make sense?
i rang a diff shop (supatrik engineering, dandenong) and he said it could be because of the diff angle since its from a different model. i have also been told that maybe the rear bush and seal in the gearbox is buggered causing the tailshaft to vibrate and move.
any ideas??

well i noticed tonight that when i was cruising at 90km/h in 5th and tap the accelerator on and off, there is a huge clunk/bang coming from the driveline somewhere (i wish i could be more specific but i can't pinpoint it while driving)...i'm a bit concerned as i have all newish nolathane bushes, 2 month old king springs and shocks and it only seems to be since the 5 speed went in a few weeks ago.
could it be bad clutch alignment? the tailshaft? (i've had it balanced a few weeks ago and the balancer at the gearbox end replaced with a different yoke)....
HELP ME! deca day is fast approaching and i don't want something breaking up there!!

Why not take it into a suspension specialist...not pedders...and see what theyve got to say about it. We could go on for days with suggestions here.
The clunk/bang you mention, I would normally attribute to worn trailing arms, but since youve recently done them that takes it outta the question.
If its only just showed up after putting a manual in is nothing to point at the manual.. with the auto the torque conveter wouldve been taking up most of the whip in the driveline so you wouldnt have felt it even if it was there.
How many k's had the EL diff done? might need the lash adjusted.

thanks for the suggestions MADXF, i am thinking the vibration maybe due to clutch misalignment so i am going to get that checked out and go from there.
diffs only done about 100,000kms, but i'll get that checked too

the big clunk that u mention, was it a noise or was it form of movement in the car?
coz in my Ea S, manual, when ever i quickly release the accelerator, the gearbox would fairly violently pull the car back. I thought the was just normal as the car is getting old. I just live with it. So maybe it maybe it is normal or maybe my car is also stuffed. LoLz.
But i dont notice the car swaying towards the drivers side when ever i floor the car. It just moves straight. Dunno.
the clunk seemed as though there was movement in the driveline somewhere, i have been reading up and ringing around and it seems that the clutch will align itself once first used or won't work at all (and since it works fine, i'm scrubbing that idea). i know the rear seal is knackered and needs replacing so i'm thinking maybe the rear bush does too and there is play where the tailshaft goes into the box and that is causing my problems - seems pretty easy to do and only about $35 for the bush and seal so i'll do that and hope for the best.
