E-Series T5 into AU
Hey guys,
I really should have learned my lesson by now!! BUY A 5 SPEED NOT AN AUTO.
This will be the third car that I have converted to 5 speed. Anyway, I am just wondering what the exact differences are between the E-series T5's and the AU T5's. I know the AU box is longer than the e-series versions. Can an e-series box be fitted by using the extension housing and top cover/shift rail off and AU box? I have called just about every wrecker in NSW and none of them have any 5 speed AU's!! I can get a new one through a place in Sydney for about $2500. Thing is, I don't want to spend that much on the whole conversion, let alone just the box!!!
I also need to know whether anything else from an e-series will fit into the AU. I have a full conversion kit (minus the box) for an e-series sitting in my driveway.
I do realise this is going to cost a lot more than what my previous conversions have due to the AU being a lot newer, but I'm hoping a bit of the e-series gear will fit. If not, anyone interest in a conversion kit minus the box??
