Hello all. I am in the slow process of switching to a completely blue dash.
I have a small problem though, that is the P R N D 3 2 1 selector in the console.
Has anyone changed this to blue, or another colour, with success? I am using blue leds, got the right resistance, nothing wrong on the electrical side.
However, is the one bulb holder enough? Or am I better of hacking some more holes (I was thinking 2) and putting in more light.
And also, is there an orange filter in there, and if so, how the hell do I remove it?

OK there is no orange filter, the plastic is coated orange where the P R N D 3 2 1 written, you have to pull the whole thing apart then use a small flat blade screwdriver to scrape the orange off, I have about 4 LED's in mine they are pushed in from the side where I drilled holes just big enough to hold the LED,s.

Have a look at my user gallery to see how it looks, my next trick is to use coloured filters and white electroluminescent sheets to ligh my dash, got the electro stuff, just have to start the work.

Thanks, that's exactly what I needed to know. Gonna try this weekend, will post pics if I can.

As for the dash mod, I was thinking about making mine UV reactive. I can get the paints/inks no problem, and getting the appropriate UV leds is no trouble. I've just got to find somebody that can either print up labels to go over the existing dials or do me stencils so I can do them myself.

Success. Ended up going down to Jaycar and getting a Centre High Mount Stop Light pcb (KC5356) and cutting it in half. 6 1500mcd blue leds, and I just screwed the pcb into the selector. Works a treat. I've also done the trip computer as well.
Next step is the a/c controls, which is gonna be interesting.

You've inspired me to do similar stuff to my blue EL...

I was thinking those arctic blue headlights? And maybe getting my number plates repressed in blue?
