EA Ghia diff query - Ford Forums - Mustang Forum, Ford Trucks, Ford Focus and Ford Cars

I have been browsing through the forums and noticed someone leave a comment that the Ghia's have a limited slip diff. I have an EA Ghia diff in my car because mine was singing to me, but I feel that it is not an lsd. Can someone tell me if I am correct here?

I believe the EA Ghias were 3.08 or 3.23 and yep they all had LSD

Limited Slip Differentials will have a metal tag around the filler bolt on rear of housing

All EA Ghias (3 speed) came out with a 2.77 diff, LSD.
You will find a tag saying "Slip Resistant Diff" on the filler bolt on the diff, as mentioned above :)

I have a feeling that the diff out of my wreck may have been replaced in its time as it doesn't have the tag on it. I will take the back cover off and look inside the housing to see if it is definitely lsd or not. I put the rego of the car before i cashed the plates into our computer system at ford and it had a 5 speed from the factory, so I know its not a conversion and the ratio is still the same as the 3 speed. thanks for the tips.

You can check if its LSD by turning the wheels.
Jack up the rear of the car, so that both rear wheels are off the ground. Take the car out of gear, and put down the hand brake.

Turn one wheel, if the other wheel turns in the same direction, u have your self an LSD diff. If it turns in the reverse direction, it is an open wheeler (single spinner).
