Hey guys,

I rang up today to get prices on clutches for when my manual conversion is done. An EA clutch is $305 whereas and EB clutch is $431, why is the EB version so much dearer? I am aware that they are slightly bigger, but is that the only difference. I have an EA flywheel, so I think I will be using it as opposed to finding an EB one. Will using an EA clutch and flywheel allow me to use an EB box, or am I better off using an EA box as well? Are EA clutches any weaker that EB ones?

Umm.....I pay $45 for a clutch plate, top price I've been quoted was $100-something

Also I presume they're talking about the 3.9 as opposed to the 4L clutch, AFAIK the 3.9 is a 9 1/2" plate, I *think* the 4L is a 10" plate.

That price is a complete kit consisting of the cover assy, driven plate, release and spigot brgs.

I hope you don't pay that much for a kit, then I'll be jeleous!!

THe 3.9 cluth plate and pressure plate bolt up with 3 bolts same as a 250 one.... The 4.0 litre clutch is a fair bit bigger, and the pressure plate bolts up with 6 bolts

Pay the extra and get an EB one. You may even be able to get a heavy duty one for around the same price. I can't remember how much my HD clutch was but I think it was 400 and something. It's an RPM clutch, no difference on the pedal feel (that I noticed) but 30-40-% more clamping power. They had to drill the flywheel for the extra bolts though.
