I have a EB with a dead T5 and am looking at pulling the 4 speed out of another EB to replace it with (It does a shitload of towing so an auto would prolly be better).
How hard is it to change from a T5 to the 4 speed auto and what is involved?
The manual is MPI and the auto is CFI, is this likely to pose any significant problems for ratting parts?
Cartman you should post this around and see if you can get someone who wants to swap to a manual to swap the gear with you so you each get all the bits and pieces right. You both may get a good deal out of it.
jonbays,
I would certainly do that if I didnt have the other car sitting here doing nothing and the T5 did not already have a home.
I looked at the 3speed to 4 speed auto conversion and that doesnt look that bad (just fiddly), just wondering if it is like the older (<XF) falcons and simply a case of plug in the extra wiring, throw the computer in on the EB. Either way I dont mind, just would like to have a bit of an idea before I start
Well read the thread in my signature, it will hopefully explain some things, otherwise feel free to ask questions, I converted the 3 speed auto to 4 speed auto.

I will see how I go with things. I know I need an ECU but I may have one lined up. I have a wreck ED as well, was just looking at how hard smartlock would be to add or disable on the EB.
I was actually considering using the ECU in the ED (hence the reason I was considering either adding or disabling smartlock), but considering the price of an EB1 auto ECU it is hardly worth the extra effort :)
Integrated wiring to my exisiting ECU, for the TPS, speed shaft sensor, the speedo sensor came from behind the dash, that was the extent of the integration, otherwise in my case, I had to also re-pin the plug (oblong one) from the transmission to match up with my wiring harness and connect 2 wires together on existing harness for neutral safety etc, all works well, I am typing up all my notes on wires, pin number, colour and function so will have that avaliable hopefully can be hosted on eafalcon.com or similar for all to share :0).
