ED T5 power limits?

Hey all,
anyone know the max power the ED T5's were able to handle safely? (6cyl ver)
Can these boxes be improved with mustang T5 bits or Would another box be the go?
I'm just figured I'd ask cause I have a spare ED T5 I'll be using for my up and comming turbo install.
I figured I'd run my standard EB T5 till it blew and build the ED box up in the mean time.

Re: ED T5 power limits?

Well I don't actully plan to blow the box up but I know it won't take boost for ever thats all.
If it's still in a good condition when the ED box is ready I'll sell it for sure.
If it's not up to scratch I'll just give it away.
Just so you know this won't be for a while.

Re: ED T5 power limits?

depends on many many things....

what tyres and diff are you running? if you will be using normal 7 inch rims and street tyres, and not flat-shifting or being really rough, it should in theory last indefinitly.

the big killer of components is mainly shock loading (like when you smash the next gear when racing) and also if you have too much grip it puts a lot of stress on components - if you plan to run slicks at the drags then expect it to die an early death...

seeing as you will have a turbo or two on a 4 litre motor, there should be ample power there to shut down most cars without resorting to flat shifting or smashing into the next gear with all of your might...

Re: ED T5 power limits?

oh yeah - WBT56 said in another thread that the box used in the XR6 turbo is the strongest T5 made to date - time to start scouring wreaking yards for stacked XR6s?
