I haven't turned but brother in law is chasing an M21 and silly me said I'd find him one, but not knowing anything about holden bits I don't know what I'm looking at. Can anyone tell me how to spot the difference between an M21 and the weaker and cheaper M20?

M21 has a 2.54 ratio first gear. M20 has a 3.05 ratio first gear. Do a ratio check will tell. They also have ID grooves on the input shaft, M21 should have two grooves, but this is not a given.

ALso the M21 (v8 box) has a longer input shaft and so will not fit a 6.

They are?

Must have been rare, AFAIK there only was a v8 box.
Oh well, if I wanted a decent v8 box for my panno I wouldn't get the original 4-speed anyway :)
