I always thought Nissan Silvia Turbos were quick, but after this...
Coming back from the long weekend up the coast with a few mates, I got to the lights at Heathcote (NSW) and had a black nissan silvia next to me and an XG ute in the far lane.
The silvia starts nudging ahead under the red, and detecting this I think, why not, lets see how close I can go to keeping pace with him.
On green, we are off (gently 'cause I like my T5). XG wasn't interested, but the silvia is into it. He pulls half a carlength, blowoff valve pssshht-ing away. I grab second and have him reeled in by the time I get to 4000 in third, he is on my quarter and dropping away slowly.
So I back off and he overtakes me!?!
I really hope that this guy was not giving it 100% - but it sounded like he was. The good old EF has 295,000ks, three people on board and luggage. Oh, and did I mention that it is on gas?
Could this have actually occured or am I kidding myself? Has anyone else dusted a Silvia? Might have only been a CA18DET (1.8l) but it was a turbo.... Is the problem that I just have too little faith in the treaffioc light dragging abilities of my trusty EF?
I have never seriously attempted to race anyoine in it since I got it (and i am not going to get into the habit of it either) but I was interested to hear what cars something like my EF could beat (or you have beaten in your E-series)
I've only had my XR8 for a week or two, but I've already blown away (well not blown away...), a 180sx. My car is basically stock, bar an exhaust system. I think these Nissans have more hype than they deserve.
1992 EB XR8 - 5 spd manual
- Genie extractors, 2.5" exhaust, single Mercury muffler
- 18x8.5" Lenso Psycho rims, 235/40 Toyo Z series
- GT scoop and wing
- Kenwood mp3 player, Kenwood splits and 6x9s
- Momo woodgrain steering wheel & gearknob
My mate has a silvia. SR20DET and it flies. It is only running a little more boost and an exhaust, He regulary dusts VT clubbies. I have been passenger when it happened so its not bullshit either. They can be quick, unsure of the CA18DET tho.
I have been in some quick SR20 powered ones but could not get why I beat this thing - reputation and word on the street would say I would not have a chance. It was a surprise - I though I would have been dusted. Nice surprise though :)
