hi there

last nite i was driving the ef and the speedo just droped to 0 and i lost 4th gear. it also doesnt like selecting gears unless i do it manually. Is the auto stuffed agiain or can it be the speedo sensor??

Can anyone share any lite on what has gone wrong

My other car which isnt a ford (but its been a great VN) does this occasionally also. I have traced it to an intermittent fault in the gearbox speed sensor pickup.The sensor unit's leads are subject to oil, heat and movement and this over times can cause a problem with reliability of the signal to the CPU.
Best thing to do is locate it, take off the plug/wires, give them a good clean, tighten up the connector plugs contacts and try that. Failing that its most probably the sender unit thats faulty which will need replacing.
