Hi,

my mate has bought an ef xr8 cheap, cause the auto box is stuffed.

we want to put a manual in it, but would like to know the costs.

how much would a 5 speed gearboxe converison cost to buy and install?

and how bout just a replacement auto box?

!Gn|T|0n got a quote recently for about $2400 i think, I am not 100%, there might be something I missed out.

It cost me about $2000 to convert my car to a manual recently.

You want to make sure you get a good T5, and not a 6cyl one.

You could try going to www.malwoodauto.com.au and emailing them for a quote.

an auto rebuild is $1900... I looked into it. The manual is the best!!!

It can be done quite cheaply or can be exspensive depending on how you go about it. My conversion was $1700 from memory - a large part of this was the clutch, pressure plate and clutch pedel which were purchased new from ford, and the flywheel which came from SA. My costs were offset buy selling the auto for $350. Labour was free as we did it at home in a day. Probably one of the more fun mods to do but it did bring up a few other problems which took a while to figure out how to get around them.

Dont ask me how much it set me back because I'm still paying for it, After converting my car to a 5.0l I thought I could get a cheap 5 speed by buying an xr8 5 speed and taking the gearbox out of that and converting that to auto, That's where the trouble began me not knowing EB1 to EB2 wiring looms are different and getting an EB2 loom for the auto conversion to put in an EB1 falcon. I could keep going on about how much crap I had to go through to get the car going but I will just say it was all worth it!!!!!!!!!!!

seen it there last week when i was looking on the net. put a link up in a post i made about it coz it was a bargain.....and noticed now it had been sold.
good place for cheap cars!!

yeah, they didnt know the auto box was suffed so he got another $1100 off the price. still not the difference for a new box but will ofset it a fair bit.
