Geeze with these things you can be just unlucky.Or have 300Kw and last for years. But iff it blows there is only one person to blame. About $1000.00 Depends whats broken..Change the oil often and don't shockload it, as in dumping clutch etc..Auto's are reasonably diff friendy imo...

i agree with the above.

i had a long conversation with a diff rebuilder at work the other day, regarding the strength of various diffs.

he said that as a general rule the borg warner 4 pinion LSDs (im pretty sure that means all LSD from EA onwards - XR definately have 4 pinion) can handle about 400hp, depending on the driver, i asked him if they would last longer behind an auto than a manual, and he said maybe, i think definately, as the shifts are softer etc.

if you are producing more than about 400hp (i wish!!!!!) he said go 9 inch.

obviously, if you do heaps of burnouts then they dont last as long, the friction plates in the LSD mechanism wear out and you have to get them replaced.

by the way: anyone know the best diff oil to use in a 3.45:1 LSD in a EB XR6?
