EFII Auto to Manual - Ford Forums - Mustang Forum, Ford Trucks, Ford Focus and Ford Cars

Dear All,

Has any one changed the auto in a EFII six cyl from auto to maual and what may be involved i.e location of Auto computer etc.. I know the wiring are the same in both auto and manual and I need to change the pedal box, tail shaft, any thing else that can be thought of please help ASAP, I have a mate with a XR6 Manual who has offered to swap for the Auto in mine... we have looked at the wiring in the engine bay and they are the same both have the same plugs for use on both auto and manual.. is the EFI comp the same for auto and Manual ??? we have use of a mech work shop to complete the change over with two lifts etc.. also is there an easyer way to change the pedal box with out pulling the complete dash out (well most of it) ??? I would like to do it over this Anzac week end if any one can help please do... Please email me with any idea's ljchadwick at optusnet dot com dot au

But this is some one with an EB not EF... I was not shore what differance there wuld be that is why I asked.....

I'm pretty sure that a car with a manual cannot be changed to an auto without having to swap the wiring looms. The manual car has not got the wiring for the auto computer. Plus if your changing it over with an Eb the wiring looms are not interchangable.

No it is a swap from a EFII XR6 Manual to a EFII XR6 Auto...
I have emailed Techo's at frod and spoke to a coiple of auto elect and even both looked at the loom on both cars side by side etc..
the manual XR has the same loom as per my auto XR with the XR Manual having a dust cap over the round multi pin plug were the auto would be pluged into...

I will take some photo's tommorow and post them of the change over from auto to manual... as we do it....

no prob.. I'm just trying to get my head around it as well I have done a couple of auto to manual changes with a VL, Laser, XE, and some other but not with this ford..
