EL Transmission Conditioner

I want to put a trans conditioner in my EL Fairmont, but the thing to put it in is under the car.. I had a look for it but couldent find it.. Can someone tell me were it is, and is it advisable to the put the conditioner in. I wanna put it in because from 2nd to 1st when im stopping i can hear a clunk and also feel it, as if its knocking back or something.

Umm, is this an automatic transmission? when do you feel the clunk? when you use the selector to get into 1st from second? because you shouldn't do that..

Its an automatic trans.. The clunk happens when your just about to stop, when it goes from 2nd to first when your stopping.

Re: EL Transmission Conditioner

What happens when you have the car stationary with your foot on the brake, and move the selector to reverse... then wait a few seconds, then put it back into drive? Any clunks then?

Re: EL Transmission Conditioner

simple.... get a manual, its more fun also check your tailshaft for movement, get under the car, and grab the tailshaft, and spin it, if there is quite a bit of play, it may not be your tranny, but your tailshaft/diff, i remember mums xd done the tailshaft at about 80 kays!

Re: EL Transmission Conditioner

It's amazing how many people use their auto like a manual, shifting up and down. Crazy. Leave it in Drive, those transmissions were not designed to be a manual shift.

Re: EL Transmission Conditioner

The filler plug is on the drivers side, 1/3 way up on the square bit. Check your fluid levels first, trans should be warm to the touch, fluid should be up to bottom of hole. If the fluid is black, best to get the whole 10 litres replaced.

cheers

My tranny always clunks into first, just the way it is.

It could prob do with a service though.
