I have a 79 Thunderbird. I want to transplant the engine and tranny from an 88 crown vicky into it minus the EFI. The only problem is how do I make it shift without the engine computer? Does some one make a stand alone shift module so I can use the Overdrive tranny with a carb motor? Any help is appreciated!

Does the vic have a similar model that is fitted with a carb donk and elec auto? maybe an older model or find a different car altogether fitted with the same box but behind a carbied motor.
The aussie falcon had a few variences like this with the ecu controlling spark and shift but not fuel on some models but control efi/spark/shift on others.
U could just swap ECUs if u can find one thats suits

Unless your donor car was a 1993 or later Crown Vic it has the basic AOD transmission not requiring a stand alone trans control. Should be just a basic swap.
