Some of you may know I have had a few issues with my auto box. And today I had it looked at and was told, "there's no second gear" because of a bearing or something, "eighteen fifty" ($1850) Ha! Do you think my heart sank? It's bloody one thing after another.

Now what to do... Of course, this sings for a T5 :s6: I don't know if I will bother with another auto unless it's on the cheap (read: 150-200). There is usually T5s floating around on eBay, but I don't know if I want to bother taking the risk of getting a shoddy box. Ohhhh and then there is the fun of learning to drive a manual

Did I just say that?! But I'm not too bothered by that (my folks only drove autos when I was learning).

Great Ocean Road? I don't think so at this rate.

Please give me your suggestions. I couldn't hate my car any more than I do now =(

Just falcons has the conversion kit minus computer for $700. Does Jack still have a conversion kit for sale?

My opinion get an Auto from the forums or wreckers (sunny may have one) for cheap and have the E series boys fit it. It should cost you $200 all up and last you a while.

No, Jack sold his T5 :sad: Don't you worry, it'd be in my hands right now if he hadn't... 700 doesn't sound TOO bad. What sort of warranty does it come with? How much is a manual ECU worth? (I would wanna do it properly).

The problem I am facing buying privately is what condition the box is in. That's why a wrecker would be good if they offered some type of warranty.

Im not sure if it comes with one, you would be best to call them and ask. I went there last weekend and asked about them, they didnt have a manual ecu.
Im not sure about the ECU price but you wont need it ugently, it will just idle funny like that car at the dyno day or like my a car does now.

luke, There is a Mint auto sitting in a wagon over at pinches in Kilsyth. Know this cause it was clean as and had been served like 800k's before it was sold. Yell out if u need a hand!

BTW, you can come in the fully sik EA CFI beast on GOR if u want

Mate I totally agree with you going the T5 way, even if it means you run it with your Auto ECU for a while until you can scrape up the dosh for the (rare!) manual non xr6 ECU. You're gonna loove swappin cogs on your own, and yeah theres plenty of people here to teach you how to drive a manual hahahah.

at least it will be driveable again and hopefully you can make it to GOR. I for one will offer you my passenger seat if you can't get the ED there! Good Luck

perhaps you should get another opinion.. ? $1850 is a huuuuge quote.. The auto may not even be busted...

other wise T5 ieeeeet.

im about to do a manual conversion..
i got auto here (in my car) 4 speed 180,000 on it.
whole car i just got and is in good nick.. auto seems to be fine...

probably want to sell it for around $400
