Hello, I have a '77 302 / C4 combo from a F150 in a 2500# streetrod. The engine and tranny are stock and the tranny has been rebuilt and gone through. The problem is that the tranny shifts to early and does not always down shift while slowing down or stopping. By about 18-20 mph I am in high gear. Also, it does not want to engage reverse very well, but does engage reverse on high idle. My shifter linkage is in the correct positions. I have adjusted some on the modulator. Someone suggested playing with the length of the modulator shaft, making it longer. Good Ideas ?

Any suggestions ? When manually shifted, it really works good and is fairly quick.

Try with the modulator off and plugged to see what it does. If it shifts veary late, the modulator has something amiss. How long ago was it rebuilt. Maybe the rebuilder should be told.

Just put a golf tee or something similar in the hose.
