I had Chad & Mario the "Ford Wizzes" from New Oak look at the car with possible transmission problems today. The box was not changing when I asked it to and was taking about 3-5 seconds to find reverse.
Turns out the computer program which controls the Auto was corrupt and out dated. I'll find out the new firmware version number in the next day and post it. This update has recently been released.
Ford have specifically mentioned this new 'firmware update' for the auto box will restore power where previously lost for all BA Autos.
I cant wait to get the car back on Friday. Chad has indicated the cars performance has improved.
Maybe this is where the lost 24 rwkw went to???
Dyno will be next week for confirmation of power gain.
If you want any further info in regards to this 'firmware update', pls phone Chad from New Oak Service on 03 9564-3888 (He said he is always happy to help out FF members).
Hope this helps guys & gals (for BA autos that is)

Funny that... They believe you and look after you with your GT-P but with my lowly XR6 manual when I complained of shift quality they told me "They all do that". Its appearing that a lot of GT's are "doing that" with autos.
This sort of attitude against the lower model cars really gives me the shits and needs to be addressed. Oh and Strapp Ford in Kew fixed my manual shifter problem. A clutch hydrolic cylinder had failed.

BA XR6 - December 2002 ~ Soon to disappear if Ford CRC can't fix it....
45,000km service coming up - and i'll be asking for a sizable list of fixes:
* Gearbox (3rd time)
* Steering click (5th time)
* Brake Shudder (2nd time, and has the applied "Fix")
* etc...
I have dealt with Chad a couple of times with my very lowly AU1 XR6 and he has been nothing short of excellent. As far as dealers and service go, New Oak and Chad are the best!
I got SMSed the update info from Mario first thing this morning.
"3R2312A650ALC is the new pcm upgrade".
In regards to lower models and service, I've previously had an XR6 & an XR8 and found Chad’s service still the same with the GT-P, nothing short of 'top notch'. I just hope he never leaves. (fingers crossed)
Ill get off my soap box now.

Well Chad was the person at New Oak that told me "they all do that" as well as "we did not even look at it".
Experience in buying a new car from New Oak Ford was terrific! however after one non-handbook service I was dismayed. Let down by another service department. Strapp Ford seem to have heeded my call about my woes with a gearbox and seem to have done the trick. I'm a far happier Ford customer now. I might take my car back to New Oak Ford for the 30,000 service and see what the attitude is then. However I might not.
