WHat are they using? The current TR3660 or whatevr its called is rated at 488nm? 520 is definately over and would probably put too much strain on the gearbox.
I am not sure if this has been discussed before but I havnt been on for a few days and I'm not going through 5 threads which have 9 pages. If anyone knows what gearbox is used please tell me.

Someone posted a while ago the maximum torque capacity for this box and it's rating was 488nm.
That would have been me. The 488Nm rating is how it is delivered from Tremec, but quite obviously, if necessary, it can be strengthened before being dropped into the car.
Again, going the example of Aussie Pete and his 330kW XR8 with T5, it all comes down to how good you are with your changes, and how much you can extract from the drivetrain without unduly stressing it. Smart shifting = long box life. Idiot shifting = dead box, regardless of torque rating!

Originally posted by TURBO your a fool if u buy a 300+, your still buying an "AU", be better if the car was a BA, who would wanna waste 100 odd grand on a FALCON AU, even if it was supercharged and 300+ kw.... the car looks FUGLY in the flesh aswell.
I wouldnt say a fool. Some poeple like something a bit different. There won't be many sold, as the market for this car wont be big. I know if I had 100grand id be buying a GT-P and save 25 odd grand.

i read in the West Australian Motoring section, about the 300+ and i noted this remark about the gearbox:
...and i quote...
"The clutches on both cars were barely usable, and the six-speed manual shift was cumbersome"
now, i know that Ford would develop the gearbox better, but if they dont, or dont do it properly, then they could be in sh1t street if they use the gearbox from the 300+.
Also, if i had the money, and i could control it on public roads, id get a 300+ if it was further refined.
The article also said:
"AEC has intended using the AU Falcon Fairmont for its first production cars, but cheif operating office Tony Hamilton now favours moving straight to the new BA platform"
Don't read too much into on paper torque figures. The torque upgrade for the AU T5 was on paper only, and they were not a problem. As with any engineered product there is a safety margin on specifications, and any problems encountered in the BA will be more related to what's above the stick than what's in front of the flywheel.
