I've always wanted to know for sure what gear i'm in and for the guys who have a shift kit mod done might be interested in putting one in too, heres a gear indicator installed in my auto.
Got this out of silicon chip.

It'll be sweet to have the display only. Hide the box under the dash and run ribbon wire to the display.

What I want to know is, how does it work? Is it pretty hard to install? And where does the hall sensor go, aren't they only in distributors?

Does it only show 1,2,3 and 4 or do you get P,R and N?

Yeah, i'd like to know how this thing figures out ahat gear your in with a manual.

Might help as an addition to my manifold cct.

OK, well its takes an input from your speedo and tacho(pretty easy to locate if you've got a haynes or gregorys), as well as 12V from accessorys power. Its got a connection for reverse(12V of the reverse lamps) so when you go into reverse it displays an (r). When you either in neutral or at a complete standstill the unit displays (-). You then go out on a long stretch of road and go into each gear programing the unit, so it basically learns once and thats it. I works very well.
