Gearbox for my 250 2V

Hey guys,

Well it became apparent to me that my current gearbox isn't quiet strong enough to support my engine when it blew up going up a hill the other day. Lucky had enough momentum to get up the hill, coast down the other side and park it close by to a transmission place.

So, after reading the other thread in here bout 5 or 6 speed gear box's for and XB, I seem to like another but stronger supra or the Tremec t5 or something similar. I was curious how much one of these might set us back, new or reco??? After that ofcourse comes the costly proceedure of getting another new clutch, etc for getting the gear box to fit........

Any info is much appreciated...

Aluminiun t-5 is not a bad box out of an XG FALCON that still has the factory 4.1 litre motor should fit your 250.The 4.0 litre hasa slightly different bell housing

If it were me I would go for an auto.. I just cant be bothered driving like a nutter and rowing between gears.

If I want to scare myself I'll jump on my motorbike, which is way scarier than any car ever will be..

Thus I would go for a new electronically controlled 5 speed auto like in the commondoors or similar.

You can get controller kits now and all you need to do is just run an electronic speedo sender, which often is integrated into the new trans..

But I am just running a B/W type 35 with type 40 internals, all rebuilt by a drag trans specialist here in Adelaide. He said it should be good for my engine. I'd stick with factory, and if im going to do something custom, then make it crazy custom :)

Wanted: 9in diff to suit my XP utility
