Three things to watch out for are: Get the right wiring loom (not one out of a EB, ED or XG). Get the right trans cross member 4spd auto or 5spd man will work. If your EA is pre 89 you won't need to change the tailshaft but after 89 you will need a 4spd auto or a 5spd man one. Well thats what ford told me. Just the traps I fell into when I did mine.

All the tailshafts are the same. I had a 4 spd, 5 spd and a 3 spd in my EA at different times of it's life and the tailshaft was exactly the same between the 3.

Re: Help - EA 3spd to 5 Speed manual Whats Good?, Whats Not?
EFFalcon is on the pulse!!!
I bought a second hand T5 for $400. Went to get it rebuilt and it was beyond rebuilding...
So i got a new T5 with XR6T and V8 internals, and a low 5th gear for cruising as i have 3.9 diff gears.
The new box cost me $1720 including labour.
with the first T5 i got, it came with the flywheel. It was from an EA, which are smaller than EB-ED ones. So i couldnt put a bigger clutch on it. Yet i have a Daikin Clutch and its great. Not heavy at all, as i am in traffic on the way to work, and its not annoying.
the other sting is the Pedal Box. I bought a new one and it cost me $212. OUCH!!! There is a guy on the forums that has a bolt on mod for the auto pedal box so that you can put the clutch pedal on. It would be a far cheaper option, and time too. It took Rollin a few hours to put the pedal box in my car... Bloody legend he is
I am still using the auto computer, tailshaft, and cross member. For some reason my exhaust is a bit higher as it doesnt scrape on my driveway anymore. If only the rest of the car didnt scrape the superlows would be back in.
