Help needed with rear end identification

Hey all - my wife recently inherited a 1929 Model A Delivery Sedan that has a modified frame, 289 engine, C-4 tranny and a shortened 9 in rear end. The rear brakes are shot and we have no information on what the rear end came out of. There is no identification tag to go by. The rear end doesn't have a removable rear cover but has two dimples about an inch in diameter and what looks to be a fill or oil level plug. The top and bottom of the pumpkin have about a four inch flat area. The rear end was shortened to 52 inches between the backing plates. There are no leaf spring perches or spring mounts. The axles have a 5 bolt 4 -1/2 in pattern. In the center of the bolt pattern looks like a large slot over an inch high flat top and bottom with curved sides. The rear drum id is 10 in. with a depth of 2 in. The local parts people are scratching their heads - any help would be appreciated.
