how much clunk is good?

Gidday. I have just reco'd my xf 250 and put a mild cam in for more bottom end torque and bored it out 40 thou with some head work as well. Upon reconnection of the auto trans i have noticed a slight leak around the trans sump gasket and it is really bad when parked on a slop downhill! Can overfilling cause this?

Also when i slow down and the trans changes from 3rd to 1st it gives a big clunk...is this normal? When idl'ing in drive it will surge ahead up hills even though it is tuned correctly! I put this down to more torque but would this cause more clunking and can it dammage my trans? I can always set the idle a bit lower, but then when it is cold it chuggs a bit!

Any ideas people!?

my c4 clunks when it changes down also. I have never had any problems with it and it cops HEAPS all the time.

are you using the crappy BW auto or C4???

dont EVER reco a BW change over to a better box if you dont have one!

They (bw) WILL ALWAYS fail.

I am pretty sure i have the BW...as it is a fairmont ghia and hasn't had any mods on the tranny...what makes the c4 better and how much different is it?
