Hi Guys..

Tuesday when i was down at a close friends work shop (A Differential joint in dandenong,vic, pm if your interested), They were building a borgwarner diff for a LJ Torana.

Big deal you ask? exactly..

Anyways, the special thing about this diff is they had fitted a Kaaz LSD center rather than the standard Borgwarner LSD Cone Center..

Now. The idea behind a Kaaz LSD center, is that its a normal LSD like any other LSD.. But.. when you apply power, the two presure rings on either side of the side gears seperate, hense tightening the presure on the LSD clutches.


I'm already sold by the idea, but i wanna hear peoples personal experiance who has one, or has driven a car equiped by one.

My old car is a XE 351 falcon, with a full spooled 9inch.. Its a rough ride either way..

The car i wanna put it into is a AU2 XR8.. Obviously i dont want a rough ride associated with spool liked diffs.

its pretty much the way a nine inch LSD works, a shitload better than the stock cone borgy LSD, just miles ahead at least. i would go for one like that but dunno how much they cost. im thinkin in the region of 800+ if u had the money it would be worth it, im pretty sure they have a LOT longer lifespan. wouldnt be anywhere close to the roughness of the spooled 9 inch......... i havent had any experience at all with the KAAZ centres but i do know the stuff they make for JAP cars is top quality.

There was an article on the Kaaz lsd in one of the early Aust Muscle Car mags, the Ed Aitken HSV GTS used one in GT Performance racing to win the Bathurst race in the wet against the WRXs and Evos. At that time there were 2 centres in the country (the other was a BW78). I don't think the Kaaz lsd took over the racing circles and I'm not sure whether any are still used.

Yes.. but the Kaaz unit tightens the tension of the LSD clutches when the power is applied.. much like a deitroit locker ....

hrm.. oh and cost if the unit is hell of a lot less than $1800 for me.. i dont want to quote any prices on here.

Works the same as a ZF limited slip diff. they are good by all accounts....
