"Lightning Shift" shifter replacement for T5 - Ford Forums - Mustang Forum, Ford Trucks, Ford Focus and Ford Cars

Hi everyone,
Just wanted some opinions regarding replacing my stock EF Falcon XR6 shifter with the EVO Lightning Shift assembly.Is it justified spending $425 to improve the shift quality.(claimed 40% less shift movement) in the T5.
Any replies would be greatly appreciated.

Hi mate, if the EVO lightening shift is as good as the SVO, or Herrod one it is well worth your money.

Is EVO a typo?

What distance is your throw from first to second now, measured at the top of the knob?

approx. 16 cm from 1st to 2nd gear ,measured from top of gear knob.

Sorry for the late reply, been on holidays. You have a std shifter. You can go for an intermediate factory item to give you about 130mm, same as later XR's. You can get a Factory Tremec short throw that will give you 110mm, same as BA XR6T, or any number of aftermarket versions which generally come in around the 90-96mm mark. Be wary of the contruction of some aftermarket ones, as they may be prone to noise and vibration.

Will they fit onto an E series T5?

The shifters on any Australian release Ford T5 are interchangeable. I believe a replacement as used on the T is about $435 from Ford. You have PM.
