i have an ED Fairmont Ghia and im trying to work out if it has lsd or not? My understanding was all ghias come standard with LSD.It has the metal tag on the filler plug etc. However if you spin the wheels they go in opposite directions. I guess its possible someone has replaced this unit with a single spinner? I have replaced the fluid this afternoon made no difference. YOu put one wheel on wet grass and accelerate gently and you go no where. Is it possible it is LSD but the cones are so worn that the LSD part does not work? Whats the quickest way to tell if you take the cover off ? there is a cap bolted to the crownwheel that has 4 pinion gears in it is this the LSD part? I know this all sounds dumb but diffs are about the only part of a car I have not paid lots of attention too!!!!

the difference between a single spinner and an LSD has to be felt to be belived - i dont think i could ever go back - the power-down you get out of corners is awesome - a little while ago i went from a 3.45LSD to a 2.77 open then to a 3.9LSD, and believe it or not, i got far far more wheelspin with the 2.77 than the current 3.9s.

I can get new Genuine Holden/Ford/Audi/Land Rover/Honda parts cheap, PM me!
I'm with ebxr8240, your diff is definately not LSD. Cant beat LSD. Yeah a single spinner will fry tyres for the best part of 100m, but when you wanna get the power down, its useless.
Experience it and see for yourself.
oh yeh it fries the tyres all right hell fast take offs are NOT a speciality
all the diff guys are telling me that 3.27 LSD centres are rare

limitied slip diffs are the ONLY way to go, if you ever lose traction you know it will be with both wheels, and your not going to have to worry about having all the power at one wheel at a time, like if your giving it some gas round a corner. I find it hard to believe that in this day and age LSD is not standard fittment to cars.
My understanding is that all Ghias with the exception of the EF series I and traction control equipped AUs etc came with LSD. Of course, some will have been replaced with single-spinners (unfortunatley including mine)...
