i rang these ppl today to ask about auto to a manual conversion on au 4lt 6cyl 99 model
they said they could build me a z spec box based on a ba xr6t and xr8 for about 3760 fitted (i think).. i heard they were a lot cheaper than this or was i wrong????
but they certainly know what they r talking about!!!

hmm, I was thinking of the exact same conversion for the exact same car. What does a auto trans rebuild cost?? isn't that ~$2K?

na not 2k i had mine in a nc fairlane pretty much rebuilt for $1000....
just got a quote from a wrecker today $1870 for a au 5spd conversion kit
so i know what ill be doin now i know mal wood know their stuff but that is just to expensive for me....
ohhh and a question for yall i was told a gearbox from a ef-el wont fit an au falcon correct??? pedal box ect is different???but the gearbox itself fits???

In the interests of clarity, I would just like to add that the $3760 figure quoted was for a V8 spec T5"Z" with new input, cluster, third, full synchro and bearing kit. This attracts a $870 premium over a normal I6 box. Std kit is $2890, and includes NEW:pedal setup and pedals, pedal pads, fork insulator, clutch cable, flywheel, flywheel and pressure plate bolts, HD clutch kit, spigot bearing, floor boot, floor boot retainer, console insert and boot, gearstick and knob. Also good S/H clutch fork and bellhousing, and a fully reco AU box as discussed. (EA-EL WILL NOT FIT).

Do you know what torque these done up T5Z's will handle, seems fairly expensive for what it is but falcon conversion kits always are expensive anyway. My mate just got a brand new Tremec TKO II with hydraulic tripple plate clutch setup for $4k (not for a Falcon though). Wonder how much conversion work would be needed to fit one of these in an E-series or AU falcon.

IT'S Performance, have manual conversions going for $1750, fitted. Although these are second hand parts and use AU T5 boxes. For new parts/gear, they said around the 2-3.5 mark.
