i want to replace my 4spd auto in my ef to a 5spd manual, how would i go about this, is it worth it? or should i just trick up the auto? and how much would it cost?

Hey rob,

If the EA-EC is anything to go by.. huge job.

You need to get the gearbox, flywheel, clutch etc, tailshaft, possibly the manual diff, pedal box, mounts, punch out the clutch cable hole, the manul ecu and cabling. There may be other bits needed too...

Easily enough done, but the T5 manual is quite expensive even second hand.

Anyone else already done this and can shed more light?

I have an EA S with 5 speed.. the manual is sooooooooo much fun!

I checked this out about a year ago for my ef

What you have to do is get a complete conversion kit from the wreckers this includes the gearbox, computer, pedal box. The cheapest i could get this for was 1500 at a wrecker in sydney then the cheapest price i got for the install was 500 then it would be a good idea to replace the clutch so your looking around 2300 or there abouts. The hardest part i think is putting in the new pedal box as it does not just fit under neath i was told that you have to take out the dash or part of it.

If you want your auto to change quicker and harder then get an AU solinoid for ur box as it has a variable pressure adjustment and it cost around 300 dollars but make sure your box is strong enough to handle it.
