As much as i hate VL's, they accelerate reasonably well to about 80 clicks. I wouldn't be seen puttin money on the VL, but his being a manual, and yours having a power-sucking auto, i'd say he's gonna get ya.
No harm in trying though, let us know how you go (on the 1/4 of course )
Mate your best bet is to do a rolling drag, On kickdown, the XR6 will pull away without any shadow of a doubt. Thats where the falcon six shines, kickdown Torque is awesome. I Beat my mates Turboed Cryline by a Car lenghth and a half on a rolling start 80 - 120 km/h and even when i backed off, he was still snuffling and blowing off behind me! so yeah, id say do both drags, a rolling and a standstill start. You'd win in the rolling start no dramas!
derb - let me have a run with your mate with the VL. If i smash him, then you should definitely give him a run for his money!!!
well i think we'll both be going to a test n tune at willowbank sometime in the next couple of weeks. ill let you guys know our times. you can even meet me there if you want. id love a headsup against another quality ford.

That's a bloody good question. What's the condition of his VL like? Because a mate of mine bought a VL SL 5 speed with only 100,000 on the clock, owned by an old man. For a car with only 114kW, this thing went pretty darn well.
