I was just wondering what a mini spool diff is and what is the difference between it with a normal LSD?

A mini spool replaces the spider gears inside the hemisphere, and it locks both wheels together, no slippage at all.
They are fine for the race track but for street use you are far better off with a tightly packed LSD.

Cheers Rick. So is there any benefit for street use? Because I see alot of Bombydores advertised for sale with Mini Spoolers. Are they just being tossers?

Seriously, locked diffs have the benefit of maximum traction for drag racing or accelerating out of corners.
However, unlike LSD's which slip when needed, spools force the inside wheel to travel the same distance as the outside wheel when cornering, which greatly reduces tyre life, and can be a real handful to downright dangerous in wet weather.

Spools have there place, but a decent LSD is more appropriate on the road.

A mini spool is just a splined hub which is located by the dowls inside the hemisphere exactly where the spider gears normally sit.
A full spool is a splined hub which completly replaces the hemi.
